We got up at 4 a.m. Little Bird says, “Mommy it’s still nighttime!”. DH had fueled up the night before and our tires are all taken care of due to yesterday’s stop, so we had no delays getting started. We managed to get as far as Dallas, TX before stopping for a fuel up.
Our goal today is just to get home. We’re tired and worn out from all our excitement and want to sleep in our own beds.
I see the big blue sign welcoming us home! Woo Hoo!
We enter Louisiana and immediately notice a change in the pavement. We begin bouncing so badly that DH jokes we should name the roads “Whiplash Highway”. Thinking it would ease up further down the road, I laugh. To my dismay, it never let up!
My girls spent the entire day in their carseats today, getting out only for potty breaks. We didn’t even stop for lunch. I kept a well stocked bag of snacks in the front seat and handed them out to anyone who whimpered.
We arrived home at approximately 5:30 p.m. and immediately set to work emptying stuff out of the camper.
I take mental notes about the things I packed. We didn’t need or even use half of it. I’ll remember for next time. Get all the clothes laid out and take only half of what I think I need. What a trip. A truly enjoyable experience. I can’t wait to go on another trip next summer!
